Sudha Murthy, the chairperson of the Infosys Foundation, a brilliant engineer, homemaker, author and philanthropist is an eminent force of change in Indian society. She has played an instrumental role in shaping a modern society that has a more inclusive approach towards poverty alleviation and uplifting standards.

A small-town girl from the state of Karnataka, Mrs. Murthy was a creative, logical, smart and curious child. She grew up to become an engineer when girl’s education was a rare scene. She was the first and only girl student in her college in Hubli. From having to use the men’s washroom to facing a lot of flak for her bold career choice, this iron lady fought her way to the top. She was also the first female engineer to work at India’s largest auto manufacturer,
TELCO. Thus, it won’t be wrong to say that this revolution of gender equality at workspace started with this strong-willed lady who wrote a letter to the chairman of TELCO complaining about the ‘men only’ gender bias at TELCO.

She never underestimated herself for being born as a woman, nor she ever let the norms of society shackle her high ambitions. Her remarkable contributions to the Indian society have won her the highest civilian honor in India the Padma Shri.

Along with this, Mrs. Murthy has won many titles ornamenting her crown! With an unabashed spirit and practical stance on society’s illogical conventions, Sudha Murthy, a simple woman with extraordinary values, has changed the fate of many Indian women single-handedly.
